Blanchett is a famous Australian actress that achieved much
success in Hollywood. She has appeared in numerous blockbuster
movies with some of the leading actors and has achieved
much critical acclaim for her roles.
Blanchett was born in Melbourne, Victoria
to a Texan father of French descent and a local Melbourne
woman.
She began acting in college and went on to study at the
National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney.
Her first roles were on the stage, before appearing in several
television roles, then making her movie debut with the 1997
film "Paradise Road".
Cate Blanchett has appeared in several major movies, including
"Elizabeth", "The Talented Mr. Ripley",

Blanchett is married to the Australian playwright and screen
writer Andrew Upton. The couple have two children together.
Cate won an Academy Award for "Best Supporting Actress"
in the 2005 film "The Aviator".
