sydney opera houseThe Sydney Opera House is located on Bennelong Point, overlooking the Sydney Harbour and the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The design for the Sydney Opera House was chosen after a competition was held. From more than 200 hundred entries for the design, the Danish architect Jorn Utzon was chosen as the winner.

Building began in 1959 and finally finished in 1973. The Opera House was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on the 20th of October, 1973.

The famous Sydney landmark features on most publicity shots for the city of Sydney and Australia. It is one of the most well known building in the world.
